Ugh, I felt that whole room go cold with her. The belt snicking through the loops did something nasty to me, like the world kept moving while her heart was trying to catch up. My throat went tight and I just stared at the page for a second. I wanted to put a warm mug in her hands and just sit there, quiet, so she didn’t have to hold herself up alone.
